It’s hunting season!

Whether you’ve been hunting on the same plot your whole life or you’re exploring some new territory, make this a season to remember. Just remember, when you come home pork rinds make a snack to unwind with and plan your next hunt!

tweet graphic trans Its hunting season!Time to man up! See how we hunt wild boar and other big game!

This season, we want to hear: What does hunting season mean to you? One of our very own here at Rudolph’s shares why he loves this time of year:
“This year marks the 52nd anniversary I will be going deer hunting with my dad and the 29th year with my kids. We have been hunting on the same lease in south Texas for more than 30 years. As my mom says, we are “making memories”.

%name Its hunting season!
We hunt about 11,000 acres of some of the finest whitetail country in Texas. We also have over a dozen Asian and African species. We get to share lots of deer, food and campfire stories. My dream hunt? Cape Buffalo. I would love to hunt something so powerful! We have been hunting wild boars with knives for the last ten years or so and I would love to turn it up a notch.”

6 Food Hacks Every Guy Needs to Know

If there’s one thing we know, it’s rinds. And we’re no amateurs when it comes to cooking with ’em either.

tweet graphic trans 6 Food Hacks Every Guy Needs to Know6 food hacks every man needs to know via @rudolphfoods:

Here are our six food hacks for making the most of your rind time in the kitchen. Whether you’re making Sticky Cajun BBQ Pork Ribs with Buttered Pork Rinds or Smoked Meatloaf, stick with us and you’ll be a pork rind pro like us in no time.

SouthernRecipe StickyCajunBBQPorkRibs 6 Food Hacks Every Guy Needs to KnowSouthernRecipe SmokedMeatLoaf 6 Food Hacks Every Guy Needs to Know

Food Hack #1: The Foil Fan
Make your bacon crispy without the clean up that a fry pan creates. Start by folding a sheet of aluminum foil accordion-style. Unfold the foil so the creases are still visible and then place on a baking sheet. Put the bacon on the foil rack and then cook in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until done.

Try it: Bacon and Greens Salsa

Food Hack #2: The No-Work Bloody Mary
On game day, we all go through a couple bottles of beer, so if you need a little hair from the dog that bit you the morning after, reach for the leftover pickle juice and mix it right in. Your Bloody Mary has never been easier to make.

Food Hack #3: The Potato Extender
When the craving for Chapaleles hits, you need potatoes that are as fresh as the day you bought them. To keep them from sprouting, toss an apple or two in the bag.

Food Hack #4: The Spicy Food Cheat
If you’re a fan of spicy food … but your lips aren’t, use lip balm before you dig into another spicy plate of wings.

Food Hack #5: The Steak Test
Check to see how done your steak with a simple test that eliminates the need to slice into it. Lifehacker explains this revolutionary hack.

Food Hack #6: The Perfect BLT
Bacon is fatty, so it needs to be cooked slowly and at a low temperature. Render out most of the fat and leave your bacon crispy and golden brown by weaving the strips of meat in a basket pattern. Turn the oven at 400°F and cook for 17-20 minutes depending on the thickness of the bacon. The square pattern makes for a perfect layer of bacon to be added on your BLT.

Thanks to Snapguide for this incredible recipe! Our BLT’s will never be the same … and neither will yours if you do this right!

Tricked out Trail Mix for an energy boost

What happened to us, men? Trail mix used to be something guys would toss in their backpacks for a hike in the Rockies … or grab a handful to keep the energy high in the gym. Now? It’s all chocolate, candies and pretzels.

Today, we take trail mix back!

tweet graphic trans Tricked out Trail Mix for an energy boostSay good-bye to trail mix that has no meat to it. Get the @rudolphfoods #recipe:

This trail mix has protein, crunch and heartiness unmatched by the mixes you buy at the store. It’s all power and no fluff with the help of Rudolph’s Pork Rinds!

Pork Rind Trail Mix

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small skillet, start melting butter.
  3. Add sunflower kernels and Worcestershire sauce. Fry until the butter starts cooking down and the sunflower kernels have absorbed most of the mix.
  4. Place nuts in large bowl.
  5. Pour butter/kernel mixture on the nuts and toss well.
  6. Spread coated mix on cookie sheet, and put in oven for about five minutes.
  7. While that’s cooking, in your large bowl, break pork rinds into smaller, bite-size pieces.
  8. Remove the nut mixture and use it to coat the broken up pork rinds.
  9. Spread the new mixture back onto the cookie sheet, and return to the oven.
  10. Cook for about another five to ten minutes, occasionally turning the ingredients as needed.
  11. Cool and store in a covered container.

5 Pro Grilling Tips to Master Now

SouthernRecipe BBQTips 5 Pro Grilling Tips to Master Now

You’ve crowned yourself as Master of the Grill and with that title comes mighty big responsibilities.

Sure, you might be known for your treasured favorites: ribs, steaks and chicken (when you run out of ribs and steak). But even The Master needs to mix it up a little.

tweet graphic trans 5 Pro Grilling Tips to Master Now5 pro #grilling tips to master now from @rudolphfoods

Here are our best BBQ tips and a few Southern-inspired recipes to add to the menu at your next get-together.

Tip #1: Keep your grill clean.
Keeping your grill clean allows the heat to transfer better and prevents the flames from flaring up. The best way to start with a clean grill? Finish with a clean grill.

Strike when the grill is hot. It’s a heck of a lot easier to clean, so pull out the grill brush and give it a scrub or two.

Tip #2: Be patient and wait for the heat.
We know, we know! You can’t wait to hear the silence that follows the first bite of a truly delicious burger, but if you throw the meat on before the grates have had time to get hot, it’s gonna make all of that perfectly seasoned meat stick.

And remember, as soon as you start adding items to the grill, they’re going to absorb some of that heat and cool down the grill, so start hot!

Tip #3: Don’t play with your food.
No, really. Stop flipping, pressing and poking your food. What gives most foods you grill, like these Stuffed Pork Chop Pork Rind Bombs, so much flavor is the caramelization that takes place when the they are seared and left alone.

Tip #4: Don’t walk away.
Or you’ll be running to the store for more food. Yes, we know you’re a busy cook, but we also know you’ll get hung up chopping veggies or digging for a cold one in the back of the refrigerator and that’s when all Hades breaks out with the flames.

Tip #5: Mix it up.
Everyone loves your famous ribs, but don’t forget to add a little variety. Start with easy burgers and add a unique twist, like mixing in Rudolph’s Pork Rinds. Or add different sides that can be prepared ahead of time.

Need to add a little something to your usual BBQ menu? We’ve got your back here.

Cut Back So You Can Cut Loose

Listen, we like pigging out as much as the next guy, but finding a little balance can make each bite of crunchy pork rinds that much more satisfying.
Here are five of the easiest ways to cut back on calories during the week so you can cut loose during the weekend! It’s not about counting or measuring. Who needs that? Strike a balance and you’ll win.

tweet graphic trans Cut Back So You Can Cut LooseTake a different approach this #MensHealthMonth. @rudolphfoods

  1. Don’t eat in front of the TV. The benefits are two-fold. One, studies show you’ll eat up to 288 more calories while zoned out in front of the television. Two, you’ll get the chance to truly tune the rest of the world out and focus on your favorite show.
  2. Count now, party later. Don’t snack from a bag of chips. Instead, count ’em out now, so you can pop open a bag of your favorite rinds this weekend!
  3. Family-style it! Fill your dinner plate and then sit down with family and friends to enjoy your meal. You’ll be less likely to snag seconds.
  4. Skip the pasta … at least during the week! Then, this weekend, give our Garlic Dill Pork Rind Balls a try and go crazy!
  5. Stock up. Cook your food in some stock and skip the oil for an even bigger flavor boost. Chances are, you won’t even miss the oil!

Now, you can go for a few extra beers and try that hearty recipe you’ve been craving. You’ve earned it!
