As a new addition to Rudolph’s line of wheat-based snacks, Chicharinas drive home the brand’s commitment to adding even more variety to its expansive array of crunchy snacks. The new product is expected to hit grocery and C-store shelves throughout the country late summer, 2009.

Rudolph Foods Hosts Hispanic-Themed Pork Rind Recipe Contest

Lima, Ohio (August 1, 2009) —Rudolph Foods, the world’s largest producer of pork rinds, has launched a recipe contest in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage month, September 15—October 15. ¿Qué hay de cena?, or “What’s for Dinner?” will encourage consumers to share original and creative Hispanic-inspired recipes incorporating Rudolph Foods® or Pepe’s® brand pork rinds for a chance to win a cash prize, free product and more. From September 1—October 30 consumers can submit recipes via the company’s web site at www.RudolphFoods.com or through the U.S. mail.

A panel of judges, comprised of Rudolph Foods executives and cooks, will judge submitted recipes based on authenticity, creativity and flavor. In all, five finalists will be selected from among all entries submitted, earning an assortment of Pepe’s brand products for a year. One grand prize winner will receive free product for a year in additional to a cash prize of $300.

Chile & Lime Chicharinas meet the need for new flavor profiles. In fact, recent consumer studies predict that to meet consumer demand, new products must be anything but bland, mild or boring. It is further forecast that snackers are inclined to select new products with a touch of spice to jazz up traditional flavors. Consistent with the culinary seasonings of Latinos, Chile & Lime Chicharinas will be made available in 2.75-ounce packages. Offering wheat as the primary ingredient, Chicharinas are also a healthier snacking alternative.

It was an exciting 8 minutes of competition. Each contestant had their own style of eating. Some shoved handfuls in while others ate them one at a time. Most contestants kept their face close to the pork rind tub.

Explore the Man Cave

Lima, Ohio (May 22, 2009)—Rudolph Foods, the world’s largest manufacturer of pork rinds, recently announced Southern Recipe is getting a new look. Southern Recipe is a top 10 pork rind brand that includes a variety of pork rind and cracklin snacks with traditional southern flavors, including barbeque and hot & spicy. Product is expected to hit shelves later this month in markets across the southeast.

Southern Recipe pork rinds will have an entirely new look, with redesigned packages, an interactive web site and new sales tools. In an effort to update the brand to better convey consumer wants and desires related to the favored snack, Southern Recipe recently released www.ExploreManCave.com. The new web digs features fun ways to interact with the brand including recipes, product information, hilarious jokes, a shredder for visitor’s problems and a talking mounted bass.

Pork Rind Festival in The Lima News

HARROD – After 20 years of festivals, it would be easy to assume the people who put on the annual Pork Rind Festival would be out of new ideas. You would be assuming wrong.

With a month to go until the annual Pork Rind Heritage Festival, organizers met Wednesday to announce a lineup for this year’s event that includes a pork rind eating contest sponsored by the same group that hosts the famed Nathan’s Hotdog contest every July 4.

The festival’s sponsor, Rudolph Foods, has partnered with Major League Eaters, which is inviting its world-class eating competitors to participate in the event. The winners of the pork rind eating contest will win the title of world pork rind eating champion as well as cash prizes.
