Pork Rinds Put the Crunch on Support for Football Legends in Need

Rudolph Foods, the world's largest manufacturers of pork rinds, has announced its Second Annual Pork Rind Appreciation Day campaign. Celebrated on the biggest football day of the year, and on the first Sunday of February, Pork Rind Appreciation Day was cemented as an annual event last year after the pork rind leader secured hundreds of thousands of consumer votes, as well as political designations. Matched each year with charitable support, in this second year, Rudolph Foods will support Gridiron Greats, a nonprofit organization that provides medical and financial assistance to former National Football League (NFL) players in dire need.

This Little Piggy is Going to the State Fair of Louisiana

The State Fair of Louisiana is celebrating its 105th year and is the state's largest single attraction. The founders' primary interests were to provide an institution to assist in developing the agricultural and industrial resources of the area and for the betterment of the citizens. The fairgrounds are located on 157 acres just three miles from Shreveport. We can't wait to see you all there October 26 - 27.

Southern Recipe Man's Up at the State Fair of Texas

George Crum, chef at Moon's Lake House in Saratoga Springs, New York, is often credited with being the first to serve potato chips to the public. It's likely that the chips were "invented" by Crum's sister, Katie Wicks, when, simultaneously peeling potatoes and frying crullers, she dropped a spud shaving into the deep fryer. Tommy and Gene Watkins thought entering a Southern Recipe contest would be the perfect opportunity to change their man cave. Although the brothers from Petal didn't win the grand prize, they won second place out of 50 entries. Their prize was a Kegerator for the converted shop they use for sports gatherings. "We were excited," said Gene Watkins. "The man cave is pretty good but it can be improved."
